What is GetSkinBeauty?
GetSkinBeauty brings together virtual health, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce to provide individuals with the best possible science-backed and medically validated treatments for their skin.
It was created by Skinopathy, a Canadian medical Data & AI startup that is helping people get accessible and inclusive dermatological care using advanced digital health tools.
Two of those tools are featured on GetSkinBeauty:
Skinopathy AI: Canadian-made artificial intelligence that anyone can use to screen and assess their skin for various medical conditions.
GetSkinHelp: A Dermatology platform that connects people with healthcare practitioners (virtually or in-person) and is covered by OHIP.
Our Roots
Skinopathy was started during the pandemic when our Co-Founder, Dr. Colin Hong, noticed patients coming to his clinic with late-stage skin cancer due to delayed and/or canceled screenings.
Not only were people’s well-being at stake, but he knew these delays would only worsen and stretch an already taxed healthcare system to its limits.
That’s when he decided to collaborate with technologist and entrepreneur, Keith Loo, to revolutionize, digitize, and automate the entire dermatological journey.
Our First Steps
We began by creating AI that could analyze images of suspicious moles right on your mobile device.
But, even if the AI analysis suggests it might be a cancerous lesion, what do you do next?
Go to the Emergency Room?
Book an in-person appointment with a doctor that could be several months away?
That did not sit well with Dr. Hong and Keith. Instead, they decided to connect the AI experience to a virtual health experience.
This way, patients would always have an option available to them.
Where We Are Now
Since then, Skinopathy has expanded throughout different medical sectors.
Our technology helps support medical personnel like nurses to measure and track pressure ulcer wounds, and firefighters to assess their burns. Our artificial intelligence is even helping to mitigate the issue of skin tone bias in medicine.
